Hello, by way of introduction my name is Pierce Kettering. I currently have half a semester left in the Ag Econ major here at NDSU. My focus of study is on commodity trading. Commodity trading in the future for me will involve trading in corn, bean, and feeder cattle futures markets. My parents run a family farm, which I intend on coming back and working my way into two after graduation. I have always had some sort of interest in trading and making money. In my first year I was going to Agribusiness and decided Ag Econ major with a focus in commodity trading a bigger asset for my family’s operation.

My trading career started when I was in high school at the age of 18. I taught myself how to set up various accounts and how to day trade bitcoin in spare time, while I was supposed to be doing schoolwork. I have always enjoyed learning information about different markets in trading (stocks, cryptocurrencies, futures/options). I took that passion and drive I have for trading and combined it with Agriculture, and I settled on being an Ag Econ Major. I have been impressed with the learning opportunities available at NDSU thus far. I have networked, and learned from many people who are very sharp, detailed, helping individuals. This brings me assurance, and a feeling of certainty that I am in a great spot to be graduating here from this university.

My college journey will be ending here real soon. I will be graduating in December; I am ready to get out of school, start new habits, make multiple streams of money, and join the workforce young and in my prime. I am not ready to leave all my friends though, lots of great life altering people have been met in my college journey. At the end of the day, I will miss college. I am really excited to experience the new challenges life will throw my way though, being a fully independent adult. Everybody always says college is the best years of life. I can say my journey at NDSU has been nothing short of unforgettable. I have experienced almost everything the campus and city of Fargo has to offer.

You may be asking yourself what sort of challenges I am going to be working through after college. I plan on setting myself up for a healthy, disciplined, driven lifestyle after school. I will likely get back on the carnivore diet, and mainly eat the fresh food we raise here at the farm. This healthy lifestyle along with a strict workout regiment is a stern challenge. I will also be feeding out 1000 head of feeder cattle, in a brand new environmentally friendly slatted building, that is my show to run. The building is currently getting built, set to be done around November. I will proceed to graduate from school and come right to work! Caring for and operating this new cattle facility is going to be a huge challenge, but I look forward to the learning opportunities involved.

I plan on being in the best shape of my life at the end of college, mentally and physically. I want to be in the best position to achieve new goals right out of school and be able to learn new information vastly at such a young age. I like putting the time, preparation, and pressure into my future, because this is the biggest decision of my life so far. I am in complete control of what I decide to do with my life after college, and I also realize the responsibility associated with choosing a lifelong profession. I will be betting on myself, my own skillset, and always stay hungry to achieve more, be better, and keep growing every day. This brings me to a good stopping point for my first Blog, which entailed an introduction of my life and outlook going forward.
